IMPORTANT: CHILD PROTECTION In addition to regulations circulated to all members concerning young players in adult cricket regarding the wearing of helmets, fielding distances etc., all umpires are instructed to be particularly aware of verbal abuse of young players by adult cricketers (sledging). In addition to Law 42.4 and 42.5 of the Laws of Cricket (2000 Code, 2nd Edition, 2003), such verbal abuse is in breach of child protection regulations. Umpires at the striker s end should be particularly aware of the possibility of inappropriate comments. Any such incidents must be reported to the League, copied to the Association Secretary.
